Great. We spend the first years of our tango journey being "corrected" by the leader whenever we don't do exactly what he intended (even if he led it badly) and then when we finally get to the point where we follow really well (including following bad leaders) we're "sheep" for doing so. :rolleyes:

Reminds me of my grandfather's saying: "If you run, I'll shoot you. If you stand still, I'll shoot you. If you jump in the well, I'll forgive you." Can't win for trying.

Sheep, hyperactive, damned if you do/don't. I aim to be a Stepford Follower myself. Baaah.
 
I learned piano for 8 years when i was a kid and i have lots of patience in learning new things. With tango though i was absolutely addicted and i was challenged at different levels at different times. Interestingly enough tango was helping me to figure out some problems that i was facing in life at the moment since good tango teachers talk very often in metaphors. I was persevering in dancing tango more for the process of learning and growing rather than becoming a good dancer. I took other ballroom classes before i started dancing tango and none of these classes made me challenged on so many levels: physical, emotional, intellectual and even spiritual.

It was a "Leader and Follower" class by Eric Rainer-Vehrs and Paul Vosse. Are these the same guys?

Eric is German and Paul is Paul Vossen (of Paras and Paul) but I get the general idea :rolleyes:

I notice as usual that this thread (and the one about hyper active followers) are becoming follower bashing threads. Hmm .. that must be why I refuse on principle to join in on the conversation..
