My "oldies" are from the 50s, as is classic WCS. Guess what they were wearing to do WCS back then.

I feel the lines in WCS are more attractive in pants. Plus, a more casual look jives with the nature of the dance.. . Which came from bars, not high society functions.

And must we stick to the origins of the dance? Do we need to be stuck in the 50's here? The dance itself clearly has progressed since then, so why not the style in which we dress to dance said dance as well? Why not evolve?

Well, if you're just talking about the look, the Supadance 1426 (and similar style) shoes that Westie lasses seem to favor nowadays don't look great with skirts or dresses.

OTOH when was the last time you've seen anybody dance like that aside from a showcase with a pro? IME never, at least not around here or a few other locales. Perhaps I'm too provincial.

Right. Pants that are too loose generally have to be pulled up instead.

I once altered a dress right before a performance. I was sick as a dog and not thinking straight so I made the waist WAY too loose. I was pulling it up through the whole dance. So embarrassing.

Also, I have seen all kinds of dresses where I hated the style or color. We should make a rule against that.
