Absolutely appalling behaviour by Gustavo. Whatever happened before, you don't swear at or criticise your partner while dancing, let alone so very publicly. That's awful.

The performance looked painful. Sad.

The show must go on... Is about the only one. Couples have problems from time to time.

Basically , when you are a public figure what you do in public is more than just personal whims.

No different than any other public facing endeavor. People . . . have . . . problems. They are not machines. Sometimes you can hide them, sometimes you can't.

On the other hand, if this is a pattern of behavior, it does perhaps mean that the couple should be treated as less of a role model.

Are they role models? Don't think I would ever look for a role model in a couple of performers other than as performers who could teach certain skills. Beyond that, I'm not interested in their personal lives. It's not really my business. They are not parents or even mentors. I don't really see the point of the initial discussion about their relationship, etc. Unfortunately, it spilled over into their performance, but they're human and people have problems. I don't think we need to investigate what they are going through; that's for them to live through and resolve. Social media has a way of magnifying and publicizing the personal and the private.

What I see here is rather a case of 'the king is naked' and an opportunity for reflection.

I didn't think he was terrific in that performance. I thought he was dancing too fast for the music.

Hopefully this will shock some people into reconsidering their over-idolisation of performers. They are still people just like us.

Emotionally... it was hard for me to watch too, I paused once. Although the couple's performances never made a particularly harmonious impression on me.
Rationally... it's good that it happened in the statistically probable and expected distribution of roles. We have practiced advice and behavioral patterns for that. But the other way around, the shared identification, this feeling that she reacted well and that the organizers also acted prudently and correctly, would turn into collective helplessness.
