AT pro went on and on about how happy he was to be performing in the studio's upcoming showcase...how happy he had waited so long to have a student to dance with...how the dance was going to be awesome...and he was even a little happy to be showing up another pro with dance...anyone notice anything here?...don't have time to deal with this issue after lesson but will at some point...
Ouch. That would likely be the last time I ever gave my business to that coach. Not cool... or professional.
Probably bad form to bail now, but personally I'd think twice about doing anything more after your showcase with these people.
Two lessons yesterday. One to work on the cha cha routine. I was a hot mess through that lesson, it's like I've forgotten everything I know about how to dance. Ugh. We took some time out to work on Latin walks, and I swear it was like I was learning this stuff for the first time. It looked terrible. Like a newbie desperately making a futile attempt to look sexy. So depressing.
Second lesson was with a new but very experienced instructor who is "trying out" at the studio (not sure if the studio is trying him out or he's trying us out). That lesson was actually quite good, worked on smooth and got some solid and useful instruction and progress was made. I'm feeling very conflicted about this though, as I realize how shallow and vain I am. He doesn't have the typical instructor "look" or body that one would expect (I just realized every single male instructor I've ever had has pretty much fit the expected mold, even with their variations). I think I could probably make good technical progress (on smooth anyway, rhythm is untested), but I can't picture myself doing Showcases or comps with him. And the manager asked me twice yesterday if I wanted another lesson with him - which is a little odd, borderline old school pressure. I think he has lessons lined up with some other students too, should probably touch base with them too.
