Looking for a regular dedicated Tango Leader (male 40-50yrs), in Sydney Australia in the Northern Beaches

With the rise of dating apps, do people still cruise in bars?
I wouldn't know . . . I've had two long-term relationships, total, since 1986. All my short-term ones were before that. So I'm 35+ years out of date!
Do people still say "cruise" even?
In québécois they do (cruiser is more common than draguer). I haven't heard it in English for a long time.

At any rate, tango is a terrible backdrop for that activity. Too many people watching who you enter and leave with, and how you behave in between, and generally nowhere to talk quietly. For that matter, good luck checking people out in a place where a cabeceo is blocked by milling mobs.

I don't completely agree with you, but it's an important topic (even off topic)
Yes, an inprecise use of language:(, although the terminology evolves over time.

Interesting that by becoming 'known', even popular, they become professional, or semi-professional. (Didn't Portalea 'earn his living' by managing a graveyard in later life after working on Assassination Tango?). They started out as 'milongueros', but became good-enough and saw an opportunity to supplement their living through dancing.

It's also complicated by the political eras and their restrictions in Argentina, together with the marketing of AT outside Argentina. And then the new myths arise to supercede or merge with the myths from the earlier part of the 20th century.

Nevertheless my point stands re experience over time/age potentially engendering precision, even if the examples are intellectually flaky.

Must check through the forum to see if aging and dance experience have been considered previously.

gosh the online IT world has finally allowed me to reply to your excellent comments. It was saying I needed to have at least 50posts to post anymore replies or comments.
I think you guys are reading too deeply into this, I dance with many different people from all walks of life and shall continue to. HOWEVER :) I'm only stipulating what I perceive from my experience so far, what I need to progress my tango dance, so yeah it's the criteria mentioned for all the reasons you have and haven't stated but more importantly because I know that's what I'm needing for development. And if many different people love tango dancing then there really shouldn't be an issue. Probably one of the very important factors I haven't mentioned is height (and I'm surprised none of you picked up on that). I'm 165cm and wear heels ranging up to 3inches/7.5cm, hence a male at least 175+cm.
Cheers and happy 2023 :) xNx

I agree - from the perspective of our 'liberal' western culture nowadays - and would expect complaints from various groups if publicised. Other groups within our own culture may have even more restrictive ideas. 10-15 years ago I saw one similar request in an area of Europe. I'd be surprised, in many western cultures, to find that expressed now (but I can think of a couple of exceptions in Europe). But some of us find some of the 'traditional' BsAs codigos more 'restrictive' than we'd like to accept in our home culture - and they've evolved there (e.g. walkaceo). Uncommon, even maybe 'weird', for us to express that, but people have preferences (personal bias?) which may be expressed in that culture. Remember, it was only 2012 when Julia Gillard (then Australian PM) reacted with her well-known speech to the 'mysogeny' accusation from the Opposition leader. Other cultures can have 'weird' attitudes!

Not my choice of wording, but there it is.
gosh there's politics? in dancing? I know there's jealousy acts and eye thieving going on in some places didn't think that would happen however stranger things have happened. David I dance with enough gay men that are totally fun and I shall continue too, I'm really looking for an experienced hetero male similar situation to me however ideally more tango dancing experience to practice dancing with regularly as well as pursuing all my usual tango dancing activities.

I share similar sentiments (with the caveat that I dance mostly with older followers anyway!).

In my experience, the older a follower is, the more they tend to be less precise in stepping to the music, no matter how fast or slow the music is. Not that there aren't any who can do so pretty much perfectly, but with the inevitable consequences of time, the lag between hearing the music and stepping tends to widen. Additionally, they tend to feel too heavy or too light - probably a consequence of not making up enough for any loss in physical ability, balance or body coordination in general, or just an inability to do so. Or it could just be a matter of mass.

Music is extremely important for me, and it throws me off every time I or my partner does not step with precision. I might like my fair share of dissonance when listening to or playing music, but not when dancing tango.

P.S.: Of course, I could just be leading them really badly!
Agreed there's some excellent older leaders totally love and appreciate those guys, brilliant value however their not available for a dedicated regular tango practice ideally I'm thinking at least 2-3times a week depending.

Yes.

I can't even imagine looking online. I met both of my long-term tango partners in real life. When my regular partner is unable to attend a tango event with me, I contact people I know in real life for a "date." Everybody with whom I've taken a workshop on a one-off basis is someone with whom I discussed that activity in real life.

"Real life" here mostly means "in the local tango community, while out dancing." Communication might at times be digital – Messenger, SMS, whatever – but that's after the fact, and involves using my phone or the Internet to reach them privately, not posting an all-call to a public forum or group. Initial contact has always been in person.

Even beginners can do this . . . presumably you're taking classes, so ask somebody else in the class.
Unfortunately in my current social tango scene haven't meet anyone like that yet, sounds excellent though. Hence I thought a Dancing Forum would be another good approach.

...height . I'm 165cm and wear heels ranging up to 3inches/7.5cm, hence a male at least 175+cm.

I am 172 cm myself and often wear 7 cm heels...one of my favorite (male) leaders is about 160 and we both enjoy a lot dancing with each other ...so I would advise not to limit your options.
