NZ_Guy:
thanks for the tips on checking out "tangotools" on YT, and user "youndmich" for "sequences for small space".
I did not quite get the concept about practicing the steps individually. Can you please clarify a bit?
Regarding the "sandwich" this is what we have been taught:

Can you'll recommend some music to listen to, for beginners. Also, if there is no basic step, how do I structure the dance? For every eight count, is there always not a "cross" and a "resolution"?
This is the gancho step we have been taught, from the back ocho

Know what you mean, doing simple moves well first is my primary goal for now. And some music recommendations would be helpful for me.

I want to try out some other instructors. Glad I got some feedback on here. I realize things are not perfect right now, but I feel it is a step in the right direction. It also helps that my class has some attractive girls ;-)
I am trying to find out more about good instructors in the area. With new instructors, it is also a matter of clicking. I had tried 3 instructors during my salsa days, before I decided on an instructor to join for group lessons. I was the only one taking beginner lessons for 6 months, while most leads were way too eager to move to intermediate. Soon, 90% of them got overwhelmed and dropped out of salsa.

Scaring me, "walking" has not been taught, at all. We are learning two new things in each class though. I smell trouble.
Shall try social dancing soon. I know the first time will always be intimidating, no matter how long I wait. Social dancing is fun.
Ah, the dancer drama! Fortunately, I have managed to stay well out of it at salsa. I keep things light and fun and stay out of rumors/gossips/negative energy. So I'm kind of like Buddha, but just a better-looking version of him ;-)

Reading your post, my impression is that we are not being taught at all about technique. None of what you said has been mentioned in class.
The turn is when i bring the girl back from the front ocho...and give her an inside turn(counterclockwise when seen from the top); same goes for the turn from sandwich, when I bring her back from the front ocho.
Steve Pastor:
Thanks, I'll try out the library for dvds. Nope, not taking classes at Atomic.

This is the footpush I was referring to:

Thanks, everyone, for being patient with me. Appreciate the help.
