Tango as it crosses over with the relationships, seduction and sexuality

I know no reason why this should be less the case with tango than in other areas of life. Especially since, in my opinion, many start tango after their marriage has failed. I also.
Had I known back when a marriage failed and I was single how many single women (followers) were dancing Tango, I probably would have explored learning it back then. But, now that I have a girlfriend who has been dancing Tango , and after all the lessons I've taken and the practicas and milongas, I'm learning for other reasons; to do this as a couple (not as a single guy trying to meet women), and to learn something about myself and my capabilities.

On another note; Tango has been great physically. I see I have improved balance and agility, things I didn't have before.

As I've heard it from Argentine teachers - El hombre es la asta de la bandera, la mujer es la bandera. The man is the flagpole, the woman is the flag.
This is exactly how my 'experienced' girlfriend and partner sees it. The leaders are just the 'pole' to dance around so she can be the exhibitionist she is.

In fact, she has said to me many times in the past how she's not attracted to any of the leaders in tango. I suppose it's true, given the leaders I've been seen so far (even the good ones), but I also know she has her 'favorites' when it comes to the flag poles.

I started a thread over in the Ballroom side about the follower's POV. Long story short: no, we do not all want to be seen as an attachment.
I usually ignore all the "follower is the picture, leader is the frame" and "flag/flagpole" etc analogies. They help leaders to understand that they are not the centre of a dance and that there are two people in a partnership. It's usually trotted out in the beginner/intermediate phase when leaders are trying all the moves even the followers' because they look more complicated.

Nothing worse than standing at the side of a practice because two leaders want to practice the step learned in class when neither of them can lead it properly and neither of them have followed before!
