Elderly unvaccinated (WHY is this still a thing, do people have a death wish??) family members are also sometimes a concern.
Not even certain why it's a thing to be unvaccinated unless there's some legitimate medical reason. In which case they shouldn't be mingling.
I can't figure it out, , but we have those people here, too. Worse, it seems that those pressing hardest for a full return to free-for-all, maskless, crowded, pre-pandemic-style milongas here are
also the most venomous anti-vaxxers. It's like they're doubling down on making people sick.

The current situation where I live (province of Québec, Canada) is that we can't have true dance "socials" (which covers milongas) but we
can have dance practices (which covers prácticas). The difference is as clear as mud, but appears to be that the host is a school and there's an instructor present . . . so lots of studios that teach are running milongas with interesting names that sound like practices to non-tango people. Registration in advance, and vaccinal passport plus photo ID at the door, are strictly required. Dancers must dance masked. Partner changes are permitted but discouraged.
Starting November 15, dance "socials" will be permitted again, and registration will no longer be required. Vaccinal passport plus photo ID at the door, and masks, will still be required. So, the administrative measures (what your event is called and how it welcomes guests) are looser, but the physical ones (masks and vaccines) are not. I think partner changes are getting a free pass because the people who make the rules have no idea how social dance works, not because it's deemed the best idea ever.
It's the masks that annoy tango dancers the most here. They can deal with registration and ID and QR codes and hand-washing, and they can ignore the stink-eye from those who disapprove of partner changes, but every moment not spent dancing is devoted to bemoaning the obligation to be masked when they are dancing. Which plenty of people ignore, I should add.
