Tango Vals (AT vs BR)

You're not alone. I'm still hoping the posts were a joke that I just didn't get.

I,m fed up of the trad vs nuevo attitude..from now on Garage Tangotm is going to be the in-thing..the music is going to Grunge, Thrash- Metal, the Cure, PiL, the Fall, Cocteaus, Led Zep and Hendrix, early Pink Floyd, Howlin Wolf, a bit of dub, and some RAP...

Actually, I'm now moving towards explicitly alternating classes, one style each month. May was nuevo month, June is going to be Trad month.

It makes things easier, because I can focus on more nuevo-y concepts in the nuevo classes (pivots, dissociation, balance etc.), and then focus on more salon-y concepts in the salon classes (posture, embrace, musicality and so on).

In fact I taught an entire workshop last week with no walking involved at all :)

Excellent, that's my playlist sorted for the weekender in Sussex then.

Great Gig in the Sky went down rather well, and if you can take a sample from 7.00 of Echoes its good practice. I'm trying to work out a step/movement for Hendrix staccato in Machine Gun; of course Hendrix lends itself to treating the woman as an air guitar....
they love it!

FWIW, I like Pulpo quite a bit, even if his style is a bit different from mine.

Yeah I do like your tango rock'n'roll ;) It's even better to turn off the sound and replace it with Gardel or D'Arienzo because the music and the dance... it just doesn't work.

Maybe we need another acronym BIIT: But Is It Tango.

So, we've seen that tango movements can be danced to non-tango music, and in fact, to no music at all (what was it, poetry?).

Maybe we need another acronym BIIT: But Is It Tango.

I just called it Garage Tango what's wrong with that.

Gardel is not for dancing to.
