You are hurting my feelings ......
Though it is a good example to how specific the audiences for any milonga were, and how the set of milongas one likes can be used as a pretty specific fingerprint of somebodies dance.... and people react strongly when ones preferences go accross these invisible lines of where well behaved tango dancers are supposed to go. One of my other milongas i can only like in secret was the matinee at cafe ideal (i think it has been gone for a while now) - a nice start of the day with great pastries and coffee - but not a place that proper dancers would ever go....
Well, sorry about that.
I can only state as I found, Hector was so loud and brash
I never went past the cash desk!! But I've met and danced
with Cachirulo attendees and mostly their mentality doesn't
appeal. I was told by one once that I really should go to
Cachirulo since I was more than good enough. Gee, thanks!
And then there are all the videoed demo dances,
some really are not so great. I go to dance,
not be forced to watch and wait.
It's just not where I would want to go.
Yes, Confiteria Ideal is closed but being restored.
It's not clear whether milongas were intended to return
and now it must be even more uncertain.
Some proper dancers did go, younger from abroad
and some old timer ladies too. But it was very commercial
and with some rather predatory men looking to be paid
to teach. The standard of dancing was, let us say, mixed.
And of course it depends which day/days you went and
towards the end it was very unpredictable.
