ALL clubs are used for other purposes! There's a 'social' aspect. Even church groups! Running, tennis, athletics, chess, hiking, book clubs aren't immune. How else did we meet people with similar interests? I'm told you even put that into an app to meet someone. If a relationship doesn't work out, you either live with it there, or move on elsewhere. AT just has more limited venues, or a smaller group of people - and usually older demographic with an existing partner (that can change in a metropolis). Yes, you still get people joining and hoping to meet someone, but also tend towards dance for a younger set.
