What would you do if you couldn't dance?

How come such a thing as dance can tranform your whole life once you've discovered it? It's so hard to believe miracles happen, and yet they do, on a daily basis as long as you keep your eyes open to look for them...

It has a little of everything. You have a connection with yourself as you discover your own body. You have a connection with your partner who you share your experiences. Finally, you have a connection with the audience who shares in your story.

now, that is a poem of words and images...I'm stealing it!!!

Good news: at my job I was told we have avoided bankruptsy. It is likely that my life will not fall apart until october at least...That means I will keep dancing till then...But even when the day comes that I cannot, I will use your advice...It already changed the way I look at life and dance. Thank you all!

okay guys, that was it...dance will be out of the question in a month's time or even before that, the decision wasn't mine. now what?perhaps it's all for the better. Did anyone of you come back after a years break with only one year before that or was it just a dream that I dreamt? Was dance a break in your life or did you just have a break in your dance?

on the topic of THIS thread; if I couldn't dance I would garden, swim, horseback ride, paint, write, be a better friend, spouse, and mother....have a cleaner house, give more to charity

It's good to have a couple other interests though, in case one gets into a situation where one can't dance. Amazing how easily freak injuries can occur that can sideline a person temporarily or even permanently.

I'm having a shoulder checked next week. If it's a rotator cuff, I might not be dancing for awhile, with or without surgery. OTOH, I could try Argentine with both hands behind DW's waist. Hey, lead with your core... LOL!

I can't do any better than samina's wonderful advice at the beginning of the thread, but there is one other movement thing I love but cannot do and that is tennis (bad knees).

Since I'm unable to play, I learned how to take pictures. Now, not only do I have the joy of photographing my favorites and immortalizing them ... but also if I'm attending a tournament friends are unable to make, I take requests for their favorites and try to get shots of them as well, which it gives me great joy to be able to share after the tournaments.

If you have camera access, that might be something to consider ...
*hopes*

I'm having issues with one of my knees, had to quit a social dance early last night. I'm also into photography, and have done some dance photography. Hoping my knee can get sorted out so I can continue for awhile longer, don't think photography alone will quite cut it.

Compañero, I havent been on the dancefloor since december for medical reasons. Knee surgery will be in june. Dont know what will be next year.

Sometimes I am DJing. Thats what left.
