What would you do if you couldn't dance?

I just love your post! I've re-read it a couple of times! This sounds like a fairytale, what you are describing. Do these things happen to real people and not just on films? If that's the case, then I should have opted to stop dancing before it came upon me...he he he

Um, yes, to the first idea, people work on cruise ships in real life. I would get friendly on a cruise board, though, and find out where and where NOT to work. (From a culinary end, we were warned that 1. we would NOT be having much fun and 2. some lines were not people you wanted for employers.) Hospitality jobs in general can be brutal physically, psychologically, and financially. But yep, people do stuff like run away to be a dance host all the time!

I so wish life was a fairytale...Is that too much to ask? And you know what? It's particularly during hard times that I get to see it...life is and can be a fairytale! You just need to do exactly what monty pythons did, while on the cross...ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE!!!

if I couldn't dance I would probably die. I ear breathe and sleep dance. its rather sad, but true. I would do anything to be dancing all day, all the time.

well, I got in a car accident last year and my foot was broken. I couldn't dance for 3 months, so I stood on crutches while my best friend told me all about her lessons and performances...it was basically an awful experience. I cried every day and grew jealous of my friend which resulted in a major falling out for us (now fixed :D ). I tried to stretch as much as I could with a cast on and focus more on art and school work so I didn't think about it. I also tried to work on my abs so I'd look great for a comp over the summer, but as soon as I got back to dancing that stopped lol. I had needed some form of exercise to manage stress and feel productive when I couldn't dance.

there is a positive side though! I learned not to take my ability to dance for granted and the lawsuit I won has really helped out with the cost of lessons...

It's hard to imagine not dancing, but the people I know who have had to take a break from it for various reasons, have surprisingly been okay, and some returned to it when they could, and some moved on to other pursuits. For me, if I could not dance I would: save alot more money, still watch and follow dance at the major comps, find another activity I enjoyed, and get back to traveling and I could probably work alot less! I would miss it though... so it is hard to imagine.

chomsky, do u have friends or family that you could still practice with, just to keep your skills up or have a little fun? in my experience, some dancing is better than no dancing. I know that lessons can be expensive, but I always help my parents out with their dancing after dinner and that doesn't cost anything. Of course, finding space in a house can be the difficult part :/

thanks my love it's not just money...money is a big thing but I do have dance friends and if worse comes to worse will find space in their house...the thing is I don't know whether they will stop dancing too the way things are in our lives. My biggest issue is indeed my health problems that might make it really hard for me to keep on dancing. Nothing lasts for ever Fascination just said...on the other hand, hope never dies, so who knows...
