Competition-wise, a few MPM short of strict comp tempo (it's 32 MPM), so much closer to ECS than jive.

Sounds better for Samba to me. It definitely needs to be slowed down. I never really liked dancing a salsa to a samba beat... I know many people that do though.

Definitely not for a ECS. It would be ugly as a Cha Cha or WCS too.

I do like the song though!

Could be Cha. But, when in doubt, there's always WCS (Westies dance
to anything). Pretty good WCS because of the variation in tune/tone/mood/
etc., which allows switching dancing on beat, rhythm, lyrics, or whatever.

Although, because of the number of Latin clubs around, the studio does teach Merengue - and they even have some "Ballroom" moves (which you will be sorely laughed to scorn if you use them in the clubs), but the dance is never in any comps.
