Best New Songs

And we can keep the list current, since the name of the thread is best NEW songs.


I am going to go back 540 posts on this thread and start to edit it to make sure all of the posts follow these rules. PLEASE take care to keep this thread useable, searchable, and a valuable resource, instead of just a junk drawer of videos.

If you're bothering to do this (which is a hell a lot of work), perhaps putting a
tag like "SONG_SEARCH" in front of the title/performer/year would be helpful,
so a simple search could be performed. Better yet, if someone could program
a script that compiles the SONG_SEARCH items into a simple list, then life
would really be great for readers.

Just IMHO. Thanks for the work.

I don't like any of them. If I had to pick one, it would be Stand By You. I think most new music is too fast for Hustle.

So, it seems your objection is mostly due to bpm. Most of the current songs are
120 bpm to 124 bpm or so (Chacha speed, and can be resampled to be slower).

Hustlers used to dance to Vicki Sue Robinson's Turn the Beat Around (130+ bpm)
and faster. A lot of oldies are pretty fast.

Just have to use shorter slots, smaller steps, less wrap turns (1.5 turns)
for follower, and more rotated slotting with leader moving more to
accommodate follower. The same kind of adjustments for faster music
in any dance.

It gets "boring" when every song is in the 100 to 110 bpm range.

I know some of the oldies are fast too. I don't like them either. My objection is mostly because of the tempo but not only the tempo. The newer songs don't flow the way the older ones do or at least the ones that I like.

Yeah, you can make those adjustments. But, when you do that, it's not the same dance anymore. It often starts to look choppy.
 
Here's something interesting, but I cannot place a dance for it. I want to say an American Rumba... but I think it might be too fast for it.
