Agreed. Melissa's dress in the video is fairly form-fitting, so it has a similar effect as pants in showing off the leg lines/actions. I don't think a long, flowing dress would have looked as good.

OK, here are two examples of what I'm talking about. You will see these sloppy clothes at almost every WCS competition. These are the elite dancers but you would never know it from the way they dress. Don't these people care about the image they project?

In the second video notice the cloned competitors that are sitting down. They look like the kids in my 1970's high school gathered at the park to smoke dope.

No wonder high schools began to adopt dress codes. Since these dancers don't care about their appearance the WSDC should adopt dress codes. Ditto for ballroom associations that allow women to wear pants!

Personally, I think it's shameful that so many ballroom associations allow men to wear pants. If they really respected the dance, they'd insist the men wear full-out rhinestoned kilts.

Welcome to the 21st century. They look fine. WCS is about accessibility, and social dancing. What is more accessible than jeans and a t-shirt?

WCS competitions are about dancing, not expensive outfits and over-the-top makeup. In the first video, it looks like there's some sort of theme going on with the way they're dressed. Because WCS dancers actually like having fun at their competitions.

This isn't the '50s anymore. Women don't have to conform to the male ideal of what makes them pretty. Perhaps you should spend more time paying attention to the actual dance than judging clothes.

You should be able to tell the difference by their dancing, not by either outfits. Also many dress codes are to keep "females" from distracting the "males." Which is a whole different discussion all together. But again, we aren't living in the 50s anymore...

I still prefer the black slightly flared dance pants. When the footwork is cool it is accented by the slacks. If the jeans are bedazzled or super cool looking I'm good with that too but some ladies just can't wear them well as some men can't go shirtless well

In wcs the females are supposed to distract the males
