Ask questions, meet dancers, and be part of the conversation.

?strict? lol who said anything about being strict? oh right, sounds like he's secret is copycatting or masking someone else (Nicole), perhaps.Don't be so strict, our colleague always has autocorrect turned on. I was jealous of his good fluent English, but now I know his secret.
Indeed, there are few forums, and many others that have started have died after a few postings. But regarding dance partner search, have you looked at something like this? There appear to be others as 'sport', and even Facebook groups. It certainly looks more like ballroom for competition, but there seemed to be some AT interest. I have seen others in Europe where the tango school posted dance partner requests.because there is no such dance forum virtual communication area in Sydney Australia
Times keep changing. Fifty years ago, a request for same-sex dancing would have been reported with outrage. Now you specify directly what you expect, or you go into difficult individual communication.Similar in specifying sexuality and marital status?!
It's not uncommon. And why not use tools like the internet and appropriate websites? It seems to have become more common than I expected in the fields of sport and competitive dance, but I guess the problem is putting something of yourself out there and being uncertain who it attracts.I'm sure it's not an uncommon request, need and or want with any partner dance styles when wanting to progress further.
...really would like someone that is serious about progressing their dance skills and talents within the Tango realm together with a fun free happy attitude..
LOL ok why? sounds like you had a bad experience, do tell why you advise that?Perhaps I wasn't clear enough: I can only advise against such a specism!

Okay, Nicola, then I will tell:It's not uncommon. And why not use tools like the internet and appropriate websites? I think that depends on your tango 'level'. I'd go more for the practica - and questionable what that means in that area, as anywhere else. But nowadays when I'm looking for a training partner within the community, going to a milonga is orders of magnitude more effective.
In my answer I spoke of networking. The regular dance partner is just one of several strategies. Learning to dance is first and foremost social learning, you will learn all the steps and the posture by yourself. Your focus should be the entire local scene. The regular dance partner has the task of presenting you as a social and reliable being to the public. Nothing more or less. With him you have to visite práctikas. At milonga you have to show up alone, whereby you should bake a delicious cake to introduce yourself. For your regular group class, you have to find a beginner below your level. Dance partners are only there for the social aspects, and only for a transitional period. What you have to work out is the pear group. Your future stands and falls with it...why? ..had a bad experience..
Honestly, is there a more terrible tool? The manager does not want to spend money on updates and has not optimized the input form for years. He also gets on my nerves with his bold manner. I unsubscribed after always receiving fake requests. I addressed the sender personally and they were flabbergasted... the app https://tangopartner.com/ offers me 600+ followers within a radius of 300 km..
