Most of us are extremely happy with this most of the time!For instance, in my community there is not anyone I would consider to have excellent to outstanding technical ability (myself included). However, there are people with excellent interpersonal skills (and reasonably good technical skills) and I do have very good dances with them as a result .....

I think this is sensible; there are lots of decent chaps coming to my classes, but often their dancing is akin to a good zombie movie.
Interpersonal skills? what on earth has that go to do with dancing?; i mean a cabaceo deliberately cuts interpersonal skills out. I cant agree that this has much relevance on the dance floor. floor craft and good dance craftsmanship are more important.

hmm, yes ; you have to ignore Codigo 41; which says no eye contact with anyone off the dance floor when you're dancing; its the best place to do the cabaceo; because you can spot the women who are watching you with interest...

)...is that interpersonal skills trump pretty much everything else. What else do you think "being kind and courteous and not making your partner feel like crap" is, if not interpersonal skills. Hell, I'm seriously socially lacking, and even I get this...

But in a situation without much talking, what is the means of communication to which these interpersonal skills are applied? How does one make a partner feel great or feel like crap?

Some are seeing a distinction between body language in and out of the dance that implies they are entirely different subjects. For others, the difference is only temporary in that we aren't yet as capable as we'd like to be.

there is alot to be said for calling "doing no harm" a skill...absence of offensiveness is a skill...regardless of whether or not there is conversation...I think what most women are saying is; don't be an arse...verbally or non-verbally....and the fact that this seems to be perplexing to so many men is well...enlightening
